ABOUT ME
Betsy Aimee Cardenas is a purpose-driven, entrepreneur, producer, writer and creative marketing expert. Cardenas has dedicated her career to championing the Latinx community through various advocacy efforts, with specific proficiency in strategic and effective digital media messaging and engagement.
In the past year, she led a team that generated over 1 million impressions to address systemic inequities in Los Angeles. She branded a new restaurant with a mission to employ youth in economically disadvantaged areas. She is also producing a podcast for iHeart Media.
She speaks and trains on a number of topics including how to use digital media to create social change, how to communicate so people care and personal branding. She is a writer and digital culture observer at the forefront of today’s political and cultural trends. She has also provided thought leadership for articles featured Business Insider, Legal Zoom, U.S. World News and more. Her speaking engagements include conferences like ALT. Summit, The California Wellness Foundation, colleges, Non-profits and women’s groups.

As CEO and Co-Founder of Born In June Creative. Betsy oversees brand content creation, messaging, data-driven decision making & client relations. She brings her public affairs and messaging expertise to every interaction an indispensable skill for any brand seeking to be culturally and socially relevant.
Through Born in June Cardenas provides culturally relevant consulting and strategic communications services for advocacy, campaigns, non-profits, and corporate entities. She also develops classes, tools, and effective communications training, anti-racism, advocacy, social media advocacy, and more for corporations, non-profits and community groups.
Work Experience
Before launching her digital agency Born in June Creative, Cardenas spent almost a decade working as an advocate for women and girls, with a specific emphasis on achieving gender equality through education and empowerment and combating gender discrimination. Through her various roles in the California State Legislature, Planned Parenthood, and grassroots community-based organizations, she elevated the voices of countless individuals and families. Her work included creating campaigns that supported the expansion of healthcare access, strengthened safety net programs, and uplifted progressive causes and candidates across the country at the local, state, and federal levels. She also developed leadership and voter mobilization training for first-time voters and advised and counselled organizers that are working on some of today’s most critical issues. She began her career as a community organizer in East Los Angeles, where she first learned that all politics are local.
Simultaneously, Betsy began writing about her experiences in her career in politics, social change and culture in national publications like Marie Claire, Vox, The Independent and more.
Having entered politics and entrepreneurship with little to no mentorship or guidance Betsy loves to share her experience on personal development, career. She is also an advocate of increasing awareness about the importance of mental health in first-generation Americans and immigrant communities.
She is a founding member of LOUD Community, and served on the Board of Bindercon a writing conference and community for women and gender variant writers.
She lives with her husband and their family in Los Angeles.
EDUCATION
She is also a first-generation American who was the first in her family to graduate from college, earning a degree in Political Science from California State University, Northridge.
