New Year, New Outlooks and Inspirations
Happy 2015! 2014 was fantastic. It was a year of transitions and uncertainty. Some of the scariest times of my life. But there was so much love and growth I would not change any of it.
I had a few firsts and accomplishments last year:
1) Did a fitness bootcamp for the very first time. At 5:45 A.M!
2) Hosted my first Friendsgiving/Thanksgiving and Xmas Eve Dinner
3) Joined the planning committee for an amazing conference aimed to increase diversity among women writers and provide a venue for writers to learn and share from one another! Out of the Binders is happening in L.A in the Spring of 2015.
4) Received payment for a piece of writing for the first time.
My amazing former colleague/poet/badass Heather introduced me to an amazing group of women writers that led me to try to find a home for a few of the articles on motherhood I wrote shortly after the birth of my son. I pitched to this amazing site, Mommyish. It's thrilling to see my work published on a site that I read while I was pregnant! I love its funny, raw, edgy take on motherhood. The kind of site that is not afraid to give you the good, the bad and the messy parts of motherhood.
I wrote a few pieces on my experience being laid off while I was on maternity leave, all about my son's first birthday, and about the silly lies I told myself before becoming a parent.
This year I want to build on this successes from last year and continue to develop my writing portfolio.
I'm so excited for 2015!
Happy Weekend,
xoxo
